What about the normal everyday Americans?

The Biden administration successfully negotiated the release of a millionaire sports figure that kneels for our national anthem (Brittney Griner), in exchange for a man responsible for the deaths of hundreds of people around the globe. I, and probably the families of his victims, do not consider this "exchange" reasonable in the least.

Some sources on the internet indicate we have up to 17 Americans in Russian prisons. While I am happy we got one of our Americans home, why didn't we bring the schoolteacher (Marc Fogel) back? Or the former Marine (Paul Whelan)? Or one of the other Americans being held in Russia? Why haven't the current and past US Presidents negotiated their releases?

I believe all Americans deserve support from our government, not just the celebrities. An example of our governments selective support is that Brittney Griner and the schoolteacher (Marc Fogel) both brought prescribed medical marijuana into Russia. Our government never declared him as being "wrongfully detained" like they did for the millionaire sports figure (Brittney Griner). You should ask yourself: 1. why would the American government trade a murderer for anyone? 2. If our government WAS going to trade a murderer, why didn't we trade for the schoolteacher or for the marine before now? 3. Based on the cases of Griner, Whelan, and Fogel, how do you think the past/current governments would support you if you were detained in a foreign country?
