US Debt Limit Increase Again?

It seems our elected officials are at it again. They are raising the debt limit to put America further in debt, rather than balancing the budget. It's not that hard to spend only what you bring in, as evidenced by the millions of Americans that run households or the millions of businesses that operate in America. Raising the debt limit is how our elected officials demonstrate their dysfunctionality. Until we get our spending under control, we cannot afford "nice to do" and "wasteful" budget items.

There are some things we should spend our tax dollars on:

• Military- we need a strong military to protect our country.

• Government workers- We have to have an operating government.

• Social Security and Medicare- These were already paid for by the workers themselves.

There are items in the budget that are "Nice to do, but not necessary", such as:

• High Speed Internet for all- Access to the internet is not a necessity, and certainly not the federal government's responsibility to provide.

• At least 4 years of free education- Lets ensure the schooling we currently have is adequate. Many graduating students cannot read, write, or do simple math.

• Forgiving student debt- We are all Americans. Stop supporting a select few over the rest.

There are many items in the budget that are wasting our tax dollars:

• Grants for minority owned businesses- We are all Americans. Stop supporting a select few over the rest.

• Grants allowing residents in poorer neighborhoods to buy houses in richer neighborhoods- We are all Americans. Stop supporting a select few over the rest.

• Agricultural subsidies- The majority of recipients for agricultural subsidies have an income of over $200,000 a year. We are all Americans. Stop supporting a select few over the rest.

• We support illegal immigrants with housing, medical care, and food. We are all Americans. Stop supporting a select few over the rest.

As your president, I would NEVER approve an unbalanced budget. Congress passed all the laws costing us billions in taxpayer dollars. They can get together and remove the programs and laws that wasteful or are not cost effective.
