I admit I am no expert on the middle east, but this is what I found on the internet. Previously Gaza was ruled by Egypt. Egypt would not let Gazans into their country. Then Israel ruled Gaza, and the Oslo agreement in 1993 gave limited self-rule to Gaza. Gaza elected Hamas as its government in 2007. Instead of helping its people, Hamas has spent its time, money, and energy attacking Israel, and then complaining to the world when Israel fought back. Hamas's stated goal is the destruction of Israel and the killing of all jewish people. Since then, Hamas has been attacking Israel, and in retaliation Israel has been placing restrictions of Gaza. Now Hamas/Gaza has invaded Israel, killing innocent Israeli civilians and even beheading babies. Is it any wonder that Israel has declared war on Hamas/Gaza.
Every nation has the right to protect itself from attack. If America had a neighbor that constantly attacked it, America probably would do the same.
Look at it this way. Israel gains no benefit from placing restrictions on Gaza. In fact, Israel has had to spend billions of dollars maintaining its military, building walls to keep Hamas from attacking Israeli citizens, and enforcing the restrictions placed on Gaza when it attacks Israel. If Gaza would act like a civilized country, many lives and millions of dollars would be saved on both sides.
As the American President in 2024, I would side with any country that opposed terrorists.
