School is where a foundation of functional knowledge is imparted to our children. This helps our children become contributing members of our society. In our schools, children learn reading, writing, math, and hopefully, independent thinking. Most of us teach our children when we can and then send our children off to school hoping that the child will gain the rest of the knowledge needed to be a fully functioning adult by high school graduation.

Recently in the news/internet there have been stories about parents who were concerned with the "additional" topics being taught in Pre-k through 12th grade public schools (examples: 1619 project, Critical Race Theory/CRT, Gender Fluidity, White Privilege, pornographic books, etc.).

The most outrageous situation is that a teacher's union is Sueing a mother because she wanted to see her child's pre-k class curriculum. The concerned mother wanted to see if Critical Race theory was part of the curriculum. She later requested all related information (emails, letters, memo's, etc.) from the teacher, school superintendent, and the teacher's union officials concerning teaching this topic. So the teacher's union is Sueing the concerned mother. The teacher's union is supposed to negotiate between school officials and the teachers, but they should have no say in what our children are taught in school. Teachers and school officials are state employees. their work is supposed to be scrutinized by the public. How else can we be sure our children are getting a proper education?

Maybe it's just me, but I cannot see where CRT, Gender Fluidity, White Privilege, Pornographic books, etc. helps children learn reading, writing, math, or independent thinking. Isn't school hard enough on our children without adding adult topics, unapproved, or inappropriate materials to the classes?

I believe we should have a panel of experts devise a federal "Approved" curriculum of the basics for public schools. Such as Math, reading, writing, history, and science for pre-k through 12th grade. Additional topics such as gym, home economics, auto repair, typing, mythology, etc., can be added if approved by the individual states. This way you know what your child is learning in school.
