Welcome to the
John Capko for President Website updated 2/10/2023

Why I am running for President:
I am concerned for our country. I am not, nor would I ever be, a career politician. Our current group of politicians are constantly in the news for idiotic or illegal activities. I don't want money or power, I want to give the American people oversight of their government. A choice to elect a typical American to the presidency that believes government works FOR the people. If elected I will ensure Americans get what they deserve - honesty, integrity, and a voice in their government.

I volunteer 4 years of my life to our country to address current issues, improve citizenry oversight of elected officials, and help keep America strong.(Created 2/14/2023)

Just like you, I love America and appreciate the opportunities it has given us. Our country was designed to give each and every one of us the most freedom. To keep our freedoms we must keep our country strong. A strong country should have stable currency, a low crime rate, a good educational system, adequate energy resources, little to no debt, secure borders, and a transparent government free of corruption. We have the most control over government of any citizenry of any country in the world. We elected our government representatives so we are responsible for what is done by our government. Currently, we have several problems that our government/we need to address. The facts point out that the recent sets of elected/appointed officials either caused these problems, or won't try to correct them. They are failing at their jobs.

When I get elected, my plan is to assemble working teams of dedicated Americans (experts in the field) to address important current issues such as inflation, crime, school curriculums, energy, national debt, border security, and corruption in government. Previous presidents have either surrounded themselves with "yes" men/women or chose their "experts" for their political gain. We want the BEST possible people bringing forth possible solutions. Each team will consist of topic experts and will not be limited by race, color, religion, etc. These teams will review current issues, review past and present solutions, and present their findings/possible solutions to the American people.

Lets deal in facts:

Inflation:
1. Our government brings in about 4 trillion dollars a year in taxes. They usually spend about 5 trillion, but due to covid, new spending, and the Russian invasion of Ukraine, they are spending trillions more.
2. Our current government is making inflation worse by continuing to give money to foreign governments, forgiving debt owed to us, and passing laws that spend billions of more dollars we dont have.

Crime:
1. There has been an increase in crime in several cities such as Houston, Seattle, Los Angeles, and New York.
2. Cities that have defunded or reduced the budget of police forces, established police free zones, or have no bail required, have shown an increase in crime.

School Curriculum:
1. A school should teach our children how to become functioning members of our society.
2. Personal Agendas (such as Critical Race Theory, sexual activities, and LBGTQ+ lifestyles) are being taught to our children in schools without parental, and sometimes even the schools, approval.

Energy:
1. America imports a large percentage of the fossil fuels we use.
2. Fossil fuel powered electrical generating plants provide the majority of electricity in America.
3. Most scientists agree that for all intents and purposes the world will run out of fossil fuels by 2052.

National Debt:
1. We as a nation now owe about $30 trillion dollars to banks and foreign countries. This equates to $90,000 for every man, woman, and child in the US.
2. Our government plans to increase the debt we owe due to additional spending and forgiving debt owed to us.
3. The interest on our debt is about 500 billion dollars a year. Which is about 13% of our governments income.

Border Security:
1. Since 2020, there has been almost 2,000,000 illegal entries into our country.
2. The government does not know how many human traffikers, drug smugglers, or career criminals were in these 2,000,000 illegal entries.
3. The amount of Fentanyl that our border security has recovered is enough to kill every man, woman, and child in the US.

Corruption in Government:
1. Elected and appointed officials are making policy or regulating industries in which they have a financial interest.
2. Foreign business and governments are giving millions of dollars to family members of elected and appointed officials for unknown and possibly dubius reasons.

Why Your Vote Counts

August 8, 2022

I decided to run for President because I believe the government should operate according to the will of the people. With today's social media and connectivity, the people can tell our government what we want in real time.

How to effect change

Have you noticed that the majority of congressmen are millionaires. How can someone that makes that much money know what the average American wants and needs. Lets stop electing politicians and start electing Americans. Americans that will take the input from their constituents and make the laws the people want and need.

Recent Issues (this page last updated Jan 2023)
As President, I would get the facts and present them to America for your input on a course of action.

The War in Ukraine:

In early 2021, Russia started building up military forces on the border with Ukraine. When Russia finally invaded Ukraine, our politicians decided to put some sanctions in place as a deterrent to additional advances. After a several days with no change in Russia's stance, our politicians added more sanctions. In fact, over a week into the Russian invasion America was still importing Russian oil. We could see in early 2021 that Russia was going to invade Ukraine. Why didn't we impose sanctions earlier?

Americans Detained in Russia:

Russia has detained many Americans over the years. We believe some of those Americans were detained in Russia on frivolous charges. Those are the Americans we should strive to get released first.

Elevated Fuel Prices:

Before President Biden came into office, fuel prices in my area were about $2 a gallon.  The news says the oil companies blame Biden and Biden blames the oil companies for the $4 a gallon price now. President Biden has tapped the America's strategic petroleum reserve, which was put in place to mitigate the effects of an oil embargo as had happened in the 1970s, but there is no oil embargo now, and President Biden gave much of the oil to Asia/China. We need to get to the bottom of this. As of October 6th 2022: A few weeks ago, President Biden asked the Saudi government to increase oil production to help America and the global economy by reducing the cost of gasoline/diesel. In the news today it was said the Saudi government will be cutting oil production, and they will be raising the price of oil they sell to America while cutting the price of oil they sell to Europe/Asia. This from a country we help with arms and military training.

Our Southern Border:

We have between 600,000 and 1,000,000 illegal immigrants crossing into our country annually. I believe America wants and needs a reasonable number of immigrants that can contribute to, and can assimilate into, our society. We should control our borders to that end.

Withdrawal from Afghanistan:

When our goal in Afghanistan was complete, we should have left that country but we ended up staying there almost 20 years. According to USA today "All told, the Pentagon left behind tens of billions of dollars' worth of equipment given to Afghan security forces.". We watched the Taliban take over areas as we pulled back, and we continued to leave valuable equipment behind. To decide to withdrawal and leave all that military equipment for our enemies was a poor decision.

Government Spending:

Typically, the federal Government brings in about four trillion dollars a year and spends almost five trillion dollars. We can do better. As of October 6th 2022: Our current government is planning to have us almost 40 trillion dollars in debt by the year 2030. We currently pay almost $500 billion a year (12.5 % of our government income) just in interest payments.

Drugs:

While I personally do not use marijuana or illegal drugs, with so many states legalizing marijuana (19 states and the District of Columbia), we should at least consider taking marijuana off the federal list of illegal drugs. Leaving it up to the individual states to determine if marijuana should be legally used in that state. This would help alleviate overcrowding in our prisons and allow us to focus our policing on the more deadly drugs.

Energy and Fossil Fuels:

At our current rate, some scientists have predicted the world will run out of fossil fuels by 2052. America needs to be positioned such that the loss of fossil fuels will not result in a catastrophe.  President Biden has hinted that he wants Americans to replace their gasoline powered cars with electric cars to reduce our need to import oil and to reduce CO2 emissions/pollution. This sounds good until you take into consideration 1. that our electrical power grid relies heavily (64%) on fossil fuels 2. During warm days the electrical grid can barely handle the increased load, so plugging in hundreds of thousands of electric cars may bring down the electric grid.

America needs to build more non-fossil fuel power stations such as Nuclear, wind, and solar, and update our electrical grid to meet our energy demands now and in the future. After we upgrade our power and electrical grid systems then we can support masses of electric cars.

Medicines:

The cost of medicines in the USA is significantly higher than in most other countries. For example, Canadian pharmacies charge approximately half the price of American pharmacies for the same drug from the same manufacturer. We should allow Americans to purchase medicines from foreign pharmacies as long as the medicines are legitimate.

Taxes:

Our government typically has no money of its own. It normally has only the money it takes from Americans via taxes. From pencils and paperclips to jetfighters and tanks, everything our government has was provided by taxing Americans.  Recently the senate passed a $430 billion bill intended to fight climate change, lower drug prices and raise some corporate taxes. Our government is already spending a trillion dollars more than it brings in with taxes every year. What this means to Americans is that your taxes will increase. Even if the government just prints more money and uses that to pay for this bill, the money you have and will make is then devaluated meaning you have to pay more for things you buy/pay for.  If the government raises taxes on corporations, the corporation will just make up the difference by charging Americans more. Just about every time our government/politicians pass a bill into law, you have to pay for it. Let's be responsible with our money.

Politicians and sensitive/controlled information:

The American government has a system in place to control information that it deems important to national security. These documents can have many classifications such as "Confidential, Secret, Top Secret, etc, and the handling/storage/use of this important information is also controlled. Government personnel, more so than the average American citizen, should know how to handle this controlled information. If this controlled information is not being used/stored properly, it is the government's responsibility to correct the situation.

Political Influence Peddling:

Why would a company donate huge sums of money to, or hire the unqualified family members of, an elected official unless it wanted something that was not good for the American People? If it was good for the American people, that company wouldn't need to bribe the elected official.

To bring our Government back to the people, I need your help.

Step 1: Spread the good news. Tell your friends and family about my campaign, in social media and in person.

Step 2: Almost every state in our country requires a petition signed by a minimum number of eligible voters to place a Presidential Candidate on its ballot. You can help by getting those signatures in your state.

Step 3: Vote!
